Melanie Lane

Melanie is a choreographer and performer based between Berlin and Melbourne. Since 2007 Melanie is artistic collaborator to Belgian dance company Kobalt Works | Arco Renz. She has collaborated both as a performer and as a co-director working on projects in Norway, Germany, Belgium and Indonesia. As a freelance performer, Melanie has been fortunate to travel extensively world wide. In 2015, Melanie was appointed as resident director at Lucy Guerin Inc.

As a choreographer, Melanie has developed an artistic practice that investigates the relationship between body and object and has established a repertory of works performing in international festivals and theatres such as Tanz im August, Uzes Danse Festival, Arts House Melbourne, Spring Dance Festival, Festival Antigel, HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin a.o. She has been artist in residence at Dock 11 Berlin, Tanzwerkstatt Berlin, Lucy Guerin Studios, Ausdance NSW, Schauspielhaus Leipzig a.o.

Melanie was invited to partake in the festival Monsoon 2013, in co-operation with Bozar Arts Centre in Brussels. Monsoon brought together four Indian artists with four European artists to undertake a ‘blind date’ collaboration over two weeks, culminating in a public presentation.

Melanie continues to develop her work as well as offering professional training and workshops locally and abroad.
